The Comedy Lab

The Comedy Lab: Stand Up for Disability Rights, in conjunction with the University Melbourne and the Victorian College of the Arts. Led by Mary Luckhurst ( Associate Director of Research and Professor of Artistic Research at the University of Melbourne), this was a research incubator to house projects that both promote the craft of comedy and investigate comedy as an instrument to advance human rights agendas. It comprised five afternoon workshops led by Nelly Thomas, a comedian- feminist-writer-agitator. She was an extraordinary coach, mentor, empathetic, knowledgeable and the funniest teacher I’ve ever had. The world needs more like her.
